Ben Shaw is an associate at McLane, Bednarski & Litt, where he litigates complex civil rights and criminal cases in trial court and on appeal. Before joining the firm, he was a law clerk to the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Honorable Virginia A. Phillips of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the Honorable Juliet J. McKenna of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. For several years, he taught legal education classes for federal pretrial detainees at the D.C. Jail, and a legal writing class to prisoners serving life without parole at Jessup Correctional Institution in Maryland. He graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center while working full-time as chief of staff for fundraising at the university. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts, the United States District Courts for the Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits.
